Family Firsts

FIRST ALL GIRLS ROAD TRIP

Last week Raegan and I, with our best friends Jamie and Sammy (they are only 2 days apart), decided to go on a little road trip to Utah, by ourselves. Our experiment went better than planned. The 12 hours in the car actually weren't too bad. They only acted up for the last 30 minutes of the trip, so Jamie and I just turned up some music to drown them out. Worked like a charm.

Raegan and I spent the week at my sister Whitney's house. It was perfect since Whit had the week off. After we made it to SLC Wednesday afternoon, we headed over to my cousin Scott and his wife Heather's house to celebrate Scott's 25th birthday. He was very surprised to see us and we loved seeing them.

Raegan and the Birthday boy.

Raegan was also able to "play" with her 2nd cousin Adeline (my cousin Lisa's daughter). Later on in the week they got back together and that time they crawled after each other all over Brad's house. It was so cute.

Thursday we put together a package of Goodies for Uncle Garrett who is serving a mission in Africa. We sent him lots of great stuff like peanut butter, spam, and ranch dressing. You know, the neccessities of life. Then we went shopping with Aunt Whitney. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures with Whit or Cody. Sorry!

Thursday night we went to dinner with Carly, Kyle, and Alyse. Kyle and Carly were flying out early the next day to Europe, so we didn't get to see them for very long. We loved seeing everyone.

This is Raegan eating rocks at Darren's baseball game. She was literally trying to eat them, something Derek would never approve of, but I thought it was cute how she would "try one" put it back and pick up another one hoping the next rock might taste good. I let her keep trying until I could get a good picture, then I stopped her.
On Saturday we stopped by Grandma and Grandpa Stahle's house and visited with them. I think this picture is so dang funny. I love grandparents! After that we headed to my cousin Brad's for a BBQ with Jeanne's fam. Sorry, but I didn't take any pictures. And that was it for our mini vaca. It was overall relaxing and so much fun to see family I used to see everyday, but now see very rarely. The experiment was a total success.
FIRST BATHROOM DISASTER
It speaks for itself. This is now her favorite room to play in. I swear if I ever accidentally leave the door open she will inevitably find her way there. She can actually flush the toilet now too. Scared me to death the first time. I thought there was someone in the house.
FIRST TRIP TO THE POOL It wasn't much. The weather was 95 degrees, but the water was much colder. We put in for maybe 30 seconds before she started to shiver, so that was it. I felt really bad. This week the weather will be above 100 everyday, so maybe we'll try again. Hopefully she loves the water as much as she loves her baths. We'll see.
DEREK'S FIRST TICKET
And finally, after nearly 12 years of driving Derek got pulled over by a cop for the first time ever. He was going 46 in a 30, what a rebel. My initial reaction: "HA, HA!" (In his defense, I better put that there was no speed limit sign.)

You moms were awfully brave to try a trip on your own with two little ones. Luckily you have a couple of happy girls. Great memories though. I love when I go back and spend time with my sisters. Nothing is better. And Derek, how embarrassing. We Johnsons never get caught. You must be taking after the Adam's side. LOL, XOXO,

I'm so glad we got to see you! I'm also glad I didn't spoil the surprise that you were coming...I came close a couple times.

I am jealous that you had a road trip partner! Good for you taking that long trip though. Looks like it was all worth it.
