Birthday Girl

On Thursday we celebrated Raegan's 2nd Birthday. It was Minnie Mouse themed of course.
I didn't go "all out" for this birthday like I did her 1st. I have 2 kids. Enough said. I did however make this banner and the cupcakes. I thought that was pretty good.
Raegan wore her super cute Minnie Mouse dress that Grandma J made for her. I love it.
We kept it simple and had pizza. Raegan mostly had soda. Seriously.
These are the cupcakes. They look absolutely nothing like the ones I saw on the internet. I blame it on the melting frosting. But you get the idea, right? They're supposed to be Minnie Mouse.
Raegan couldn't exactly blow out the candles, but she gave it a good try.
She did however enjoy eating (or playing with) the cupcake.
This was Raegan's favorite present. The card that had Minnie Mouse singing her Happy Birthday. She loved it. Way more that her other presents. Figures.
Grandma Johnson made her this personalized Minnie Mouse towel. It's awesome. Unfortunately this is the only picture I have of it. Doesn't do it justice.
Grandpa and Grandpa Adams got Raegan a shopping cart with fruits and vegetables. Raegan was very upset at first that she couldn't fit in it like the one at the grocery store, but she got over it, eventually.
We got her a tricycle. She's yet to figure out how to push the pedals. We'll have to work on that. Overall it was a great time. Thanks so much to our family for coming and celebrating with us. And to Raegan for being her adorable self. We love her!

2 Years Old

Guess who turned 2? You guessed it. Our little ball of energy is growing up, and growing up fast. Ever since we brought Greyson home, I've realized how grown up Raegan really is. She is so much fun and we are so lucky to have her in our family. Here's a little update on Raegan. She is a great big sister and love playing with her little brother. Sometimes she gets a little too agressive. She loves to give kisses and loves pointing to Greyson's fingers and toes. She is still obsessed with Minnie Mouse. Stay tuned for pictures from Raegan's Minnie Mouse themed birthday party. Every morning she makes her way into our bedroom, climbs into bed and insists that we turn on Minnie Mouse. Raegan is a little picky when it comes to eating. One day she'll eat anything you put in front of her, and the next day she won't touch anything. There is no rhyme or reason to what she's in the mood for. Raegan is finally starting to talk. We were getting scared there for a second. Not really, but it would be nice to be able to communicate. Probably the most clear phrase she says is, "Fall Down." Any time she falls down, whether on purpose or on accident she says "Uh oh, fall down." Raegan is curious. Everyday we find her outside peeking through the fence watching the neighbor kids swimming in their pool. Oh yeah, and we usually find her in her diaper only, because she took off all her clothes. My favorite is Raegan's hugs and kisses. Raegan has her trademark "pat on the back" when she gives you a hug. What a sweetheart! I could go on and on, but needless to say we love our little girl and are excited to watch her continue to grow and grow.

Yesterday Raegan poured out the who box of Cheerios. That was a first.

Of course this blog wouldn't be complete without a picture of our handsome little dude. He had his two week checkup on Monday and weighed in at a whoppin' 10 lbs 2 oz. This little guy looks like he won't be little for long.

Nice aim

The title speaks for itself. No joke, Greyson was in the exact position he is in the picture when he peed on the arm of the couch. The joys of having a boy.

The Hospital Stay

Greyson and I were in the hospital for 5 days. While we were there all I wanted to do was go home. But now that we're home I'm so glad we stayed that long. I feel fantastic for having just had a c-section. I can get in and out of bed no problem and do pretty much anything. This was not the case with Raegan and I much prefer it. We did get a little bored however. Here's a recap of the hospital experience.
Having a scheduled c-section does have its benefits. It's a little ridiculous that I did my hair and make-up for the event, but it did feel nice to feel pretty while we were there. When I look at these pictures I don't cringe like I do when I look at photos when Raegan was born. I was such a mess then. Here' me at 8:00 waiting. The anticipation was very strange. I didn't really know what to think. Surgery was scheduled for 9:30.
This is Derek in his operating room get-up. Very nice fit don't you think (he had the worst wedgie - they're not exactly made for people who are 6'6").
The surgery went well. Greyson was a a big guy and they really had to tug him out by pushing really really hard on my chest. It was hard to breathe then. All 9lbs 4 ounces of him made it out, but then he swallowed lots of junk to put it nicely. The doctors literally tried to beat it out of him (I'll always remember that sound - could it really be that loud?), but he still had some stuff in his lungs so they kept him in the nursery for a couple extra hours to make sure he was getting enough oxygen on his own. Unfortunately I never got to see him. Derek stayed with him and did come see me in recovery with pictures on the camera.
Greyson's 1st photo - not a very happy guy right now.
Our cute little astronaut - but definitely feeling much better at this point. Chilling in the nursery with Dad - finally weaned off the oxygen and feeling much better. Did I mention this whole time that I hadn't actually seen him yet! By then my mom and dad had brought Raegan and they actually got to see him first through the nursery window. Not fair! Anyway, I wouldn't let them hold him first. This is right after they wheeled him in for the first time.
And this is me holding him for the first time - FINALLY!
Nothing says hospital recovery like green Jell-O. I don't understand why they won't let you eat any real food for 24 hours.
First family picture. The first thing Raegan wanted to do was sit next to me in bed. She was excited to see Greyson and kept calling him "baby." However, the excitement soon fizzled and she became more interested with the control buttons on my hospital bed.
Raegan holding Greyson for the first time. She really likes holding her little brother and pointing to his eyes, nose, mouth, and head.
Greyson sporting his festive 4th of July onesie.
Heading home from the hospital. He definitely is our "little monkey."
While Derek and I were in the hospital, Raegan stayed at home with Grandpa and Grandma Adams. Needless to say she had a blast. To say she was spoiled is an understatement. Grandma insisted that Raegan get a swimming pool for the backyard to beat the summer heat, but deep down I think Grandma bought the pool so she had an excuse to be outside and tan. Raegan also got to go to an Aces ballgame and watch the 4th of July fireworks while mom and dad were cooped up in the hospital. Even after all the fun and time away from us, she still remembered who we were.
